Leighton Wilksch is an Ag technologist with an agronomic back ground in grain production. Growing up on a family farm at Yeelanna on Eyre Peninsula, he has learned a range of technical skills doing a vehicle body building apprenticeship before completing an advanced diploma in agricultural business.
A 17 year career as a research agronomist with Landmark/Nutrien has given him exposure to a wide variety of food production systems across Australia and a unique appreciation for what food producers value when it comes to using data to assist in decision making.
Leighton has had extensive experience working with farming systems groups across SA and is the current chair of the Ag Excellence Alliance https://agex.org.au/
Agbyte has worked on many projects with partners that include CSIRO, SARDI, Agriculture Victoria, SA Landscape boards, SA Department of Environment and Water, SA Country Fire Service, SA Water, Catchment Management Authorities, National Farmers Federation, GRDC & SAGIT.
Leighton and his family have an aspiration goal to be a close to energy & food self sufficiency as practicable. They have a large orchard & vegetable production system on their property and have built an off-grid solar and battery system for their household energy needs
